Anyone else notice this odd juxtaposition of Motorsport and LGBT related articles? Is someone trying to imply that NASCAR is more cultured than F1?

It seems surprisingly backwards that the organization based in liberal Europe would be less progressive than one in the deep South.

Yeah, and its not like they both don't make TONS of money... IDK, F1 is just so much better with every thing else apparently, but human rights and equality, the deep south Americnn NASCAR is better.

It seems surprisingly backwards predictable that the organization based in liberal Europe Bernie Ecclestone's shrunken head would be less progressive than one in the deep South.

FTFY

My guess on why F1 is silent is because of moneys. The don't want to risk kicking the golden goose that is Abu Dhabi

I'd be inclined to say the same thing about Indianapolis, home of a track pretty significant to NASCAR but they nutted up.

Except Indy is a democratic state in a nation where laws and the people in charge change constantly. An organization can criticize the actions of politicians with little concern of backlash, especially one the size of NASCAR. Abu Dhabi's governance is a bit more absolute and authoritarian. Also Indy needs NASCAR far more than Abu Dhabi needs F1

NASCAR isn't and never was based in the Deep South, I don't know if North Carolina counts as Deep South. But, if it does, my bad!

You've done me a great service Fox. I'm forever in your debt. Just like Greece is to the rest of the world.

Forgot the Headquarters was in Florida, but most of the teams are based in Charlotte, NC

Fair enough, I was just playing off the stereotypes of both places for humorous effect.
